Patient Information

Online Patient Information Sheet with a home page Patient Information Animation, Generic Explainer Animations and the option to include video.

Media rich online and offline solution to support recruitment and retention on medical trials. Initially developed with the University of York as part of the TRECA project, funded by NIHR this is a user friendly engaging way to communicate Patient Information using web design, graphics, video and animation.

We can deliver this solution based on your Patient Information Sheet, so it can be as hands on or off as you like. The solution works online and offline, face to face or remote, on desktop or mobile devices, facilitates Patient and Public Involvement and is fully version controlled.

The design has been widely user tested and approved by NHS Research Ethics Committees on multiple live trials.

Key features

The following features have been tailored to support effective clinical research.

All our websites are fully responsive so they work seamlessly across mobile and desktop devices. For sites that we are hosting we ensure that they are securely maintained and are backed up regularly.

The structure of our Patient Information Solution is based on Patient Information Sheets (PIS), so we can use your PIS to create both an animation script and provide the content for the Patient Information Website.

Having delivered our Patient Information Solution across multiple studies, for adults as well as children, we have a broad range of design options available. This means we can work with you to ensure that the look and feel is a good fit for your study.

The structure of the sites also have a degree of flexibility built into the design, although we do recommend that the main navigation follows the model developed with University of York as this is based on significant stakeholder involvement.

We understand that the Patient Information can change in response to regulatory or protocol changes, and that these updates require ethics approval. Version control is built into our process to ensure that changes are effectively managed, documented and reflected on the websites. So that it is clear what information was available when a participant consented.

Our solutions work across a range of browsers and have been designed to be self-explanatory. So whether a prospective participant’s need is acute, chronic or somewhere in between, they can either be taken through Patient Information face-to-face or can browse through the material remotely at their leisure.

We can configure the solution so that it works offline on specific devices, so that you do not have to be connected to the internet to show the information to patients. This removes the challenge of presenting the information in locations with unreliable internet.

We have an agreement with University of York that grants us a license to deliver the style and format of website developed as part of the NIHR funded TRECA project.

Our Patient Information Solution has been approved by Research Ethics Committees (RECs) across multiple studies. The feedback we have received is that RECs have been very positive about this approach to delivering Patient Information.

The initial phase of the TRECA project involved an iterative approach to design, with extensive input from relevant stakeholders (i.e. children and adolescents, parents, clinicians, etc) to ensure that the solution effectively informs patients/parents prior to consent.

We understand that some studies may choose to host the sites themselves and that is fine, but as part of our package we offer to host the sites for the length of the trial.
